What is TMJ Disorder? (TMJD)

TMJD is a malfunction of normal  the TemporoMandibular Joint Structure, its Movement or both.

What Causes TMD or TMJ?

There is not one specific reason why 10 million Americans suffer from TMJ disorders. Trauma to face or head, whiplash, bad bite (tooth-to-tooth contact or malocclusion), teeth clenching and grinding, ligament laxity, opening jaw too wide, and stress are all common associated risk factors that can contribute to TMD (TMJD).

What are the Symptoms of TMD?

TMJD is the GREAT IMPOSTER.

TMJD  is often misdiagnosed by health care professionals. Technical & Standard diagnostic methods used to detect TMJD, are ignored in those cases. Then a JUMP to a misdiagnosis is common if sufficient scientific data is not collected to make the RIGHT diagnosis.  THEN,  treatment is directed to relieve symptoms rather than eliminate the cause of TMJD.
